Be a disruptive technology. Turn virtualisation for desktop and server virualisation on its head. Think Edgy!

Registered by Ivor Jordan

The core to Mark's Edgy Eft vision is a kick up the pants, become a disruptive technology and to encourage and weild some creativity. Problem, I see no *real* fundemental disurptive use of technology in recommended features to date.

Here's one...at the core, lets integrate virtualisation (desktop and server) not just a kernal build, but at a low, below user level - core services in a virt. mach, run X/GUI/XGL/Gnome/KDE/Enligtenment in another, run user space in other, and say interfaces in yet another (the way you slice up core processes within one real machine, but do it using virtualisation) - weave vitualisation into the fabric of the distro and how it executes as a platform. It is complicated and thus begs the Q Why? WHY NOT! Its a very disruptive low/core way of utilising these new multicore cpus (desktop and server) and virtualsation technology in a way not thought of from a users perspective before - further, we would be the only linux os that could claim huge leap in stability - we introduce user/server level stability experiences as well as help ourselves maintain, heck debug core machine and re-release with out affecting other elements of distro...if we are going to take risks dont lets just add packages, lets take real risks.
