Put different Icon on different desktops

I think if would be useful to display different icons on different desktops.

I think the rationale of having different desktops is allowing the user to have different workspaces. In my case I usually keep all the school-related stuff on one and the fun stuff on the other: I may have openoffice or matlab open on one desktop and facebook and amarok on another desktop. I want to be able to quickly switch from one to another but I don't want to be distracted if I'm concentrated in writing a paper.

Personally, I like to have all my ongoing projects on my desktop. I would use folders just to archive things that I consider complete. I would group file together, write a note next to them, regroup them, modify them, ... For me it's important to have all the pieces of the puzzle under my eyes.

But I may not want to mix my school stuff with my to do list. I would like to be able to separate the next paper I need to print out and read, my grocery store list, the next pics I need to edit and the latest funny video I need to remember to send to my buddies.

Therefore I think that to have not just different desktops but different workspaces, users should be able to display different icons on different desktops.
