The live versions (desktop CD) should be a terminal login to configure.
For example, to configure the X server when *buntu can not configure automatically the graphic cards or when the distro configures the graphic card in VGA resolution, beacuse ubiquity's GTK+ or QT GUI can not shows in VGA resolutions (the installer is bigger than the resolution).
