Workspace selector to show desktop wallpaper

Workspace selector should show the desktop wallpapers if there isn't a window open on that desktop. This would make using workspaces easier for the average user.
Also to make this work better the desktop wallpapers should be different for different workspaces by default e.g.
Workspace 1: Ubuntu brown
Workspace 2: Orange
Workspace 3: Red
Workspace 4: Blue

Personally, this would be very distracting, and pointless.
