Registered by Chad Miller

chromium-browser is becoming popular, and is an essential part of Ubuntu desktop for use in web-apps. We should give it more attention.

Whiteboard

source compression should be xz (supported in lucid and later)
binary compression should be bzip2 for lucid and xz for oneiric and later (xz binary compression requires a Pre-Depends on dpkg >= 1.15.6~)

Debian moved to binary package name "chromium". Should we follow? Consensus on #ubuntu-desktop was "no."

We should drop the revision number in the package version. It's unnecessary, as all release versions map to exactly one revision.
