[mpt] If fingerprint authentication is to be useful as an alternative to password authentication, this would require changes at least to the login screen <https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/unity-greeter-q>, System Settings "User Accounts" panel, and PolicyKit.

[sladen] Ideally any control panel/greeter changes should be done with enough scope to integrate 2FA/other 1FA (Hardware token, camera facial recognition, Android-style touch unlock) methods at the same time.
