Ubuntu requirements:
- Fast viewer for single images
- Library view for multiple images
- Simple editing tools (crop, red-eye, etc)
- Work out of the box (show photos from XDG location)
- Respond to external events (monitor imported directories for changes)
- Behave well with existing applications (i.e. keep photos on disk, metadata in files)
- Integrate with web services (Flickr, Facebook)
- Migration for existing users (from F-Spot)
- support RAW image formats

seb128, 2010-08-31: dropping bug 579808 and bug 579804 from the maverick tracking

seb128, 2010-05-31: do we need to edit eog? didn't we say we would use shotwell as the default browser? could you document the choice on a wikipage maybe for users who wonder why we decided on this change?

If F-Spot is removed from the default install, I believe that leaves just Tomboy as the only Mono application in the default install. If Tomboy were to be replaced with Gnote, Mono could be removed, thus saving lots of space on the install CD.

The EOG change is to switch the edit button from opening the selected image in F-Spot to opening it in Shotwell. EOG remains as the default image viewer.
