dbarth: it was agreed recently to switch responsibility for that project to the Platform team, as DX only controls and contributes a small part of that experience.

This particular piece is to ensure that when switching between usplash (or the program that replaces it) and xsplash (or the program that replaces it) there is a clean transition rather a visible mode switch. This is most likely going to require X work, so assigning to bryce for now.
bryce 2009-11-09: Actually if this is what I think it is, the X side of things simply requires a patch, which I have already packaged and posted to a PPA at https:/
djsiegel: would a smoother teardown experience at shutdown be appropriate to discuss as well? If work towards smoother transitions at boot can be used or at least coordinated with smoother transitions at shut down, restart, etc., that would be most excellent.
