TheMuso: No concensus as to how to add hardware support post lucid release was reached according tgo the gobby document, but the general concensus after various discussions outside the session is to use a PPA with ALSA stack backports for those who need newer ALSA for their hardware to work properly once lucid is released.
During the lucid cycle, we should try to get as many quirks into the lucid kernel from upstrea as possible, given that the quirks do not pull in other code that could make the hda driver unstable.
