Crowdsource testing results

Registered by Michael Rooney

It would be excellent if any user of an Ubuntu Alpha/Beta could very simply join their machine to a testing cluster and have tests run on their machine.

This would be especially valuable if the system was aware of variables such as graphics hardware so someone could write a test for nvidia hardware and say "run this on the next 10 available nvidia machines", allowing for very rapid testing and iterations.

Whiteboard

2009.11.19 mrooney: It could be worth exploring Hudson (www.hudson-ci.org) as an implementation or example, as it allows you to do things like click a single button on the web and join your machine to the testing cluster, and run certain jobs based on variables on the nodes. It's a mature, free, and open-source solution, and I work with it on a daily basis so I can give a demo of how this might work at the session.
