Chinese Written Character Recognition

Registered by Kie

Stroke input for traditional and simplified chinese characters, as an additional chinese input method.
Specifically so that a pen and tablet or mouse can be used to write characters that will then be automatically recognised as the relevant chinese character.

I have been introducing people to Ubuntu in Hong Kong, as an alternative Microsoft Windows, however chinese input that works straight away is an absolute necessity. Further not everyone knows 'Canjie Input', so stroke recognition would be a great attraction. There are many character stroke recognition programs for both traditional and simplified chinese characters available for windows, yet none that I have been able to find for linux.

btw
There does exist a project with some GPL code, but it requires Sun's Java libraries and is not fast enough in response time for real usage.
