Include a new program with mods for better back-up

Check out "Time Vault". There is a great review here: http://www.techthrob.com/tech/timevault.php. This tool could be much better for backing-up the user's computer: and it would be nice to fix the few limitations disclosed in the review, especially the naming scheme: it would be great if the program just kept names and provided metadata to give times and details to choose between files. It's definately an improvement in many areas over the current Ubuntu File Backup Manager, however.
