Change the background when a time is set

It would be nice to have a desktop background image of jaunty jackalope that changes by the day. The url shows an example how this works.
It didn't find much documentation about it, but nautilus supports XML files for background and these can be used to change the background.
It would be interesting having a jackalope seen at night and day, according to the time it is.
It would like help in writing the XML file. I'm not good in creating nice backgrounds, but maybe someone here can do it.
