Autopackage Support by Default

Registered by Mackenzie Morgan

Autopackage is an attempt at making a universal Linux installer that works cross-distro. A universal installer is something brought up on the forums quite a bit because figuring out how to compile or why deb and rpm are different or how to use alien isn't something new users really figure out instinctually, and the former-Windows-users miss the easy little Install Shield. Currently, 2 files are downloaded to /usr the first time autopackage is used to set it up. Since not everyone always has a reliable internet connection and may not be able to download those files (or doesn't know about them until after they're away from the internet-enabled computer where they downloaded the .package), it would be a good idea to include those two files listed http://autopackage.org/faq.html#2_2 there in /usr by default to make autopackage files able to install easily without the initial setup it currently uses.
