The goals for 14.04 regarding the dialer-app are:
- improve test coverage
- support for non-numeric sms/calls
- fix the reporting of call duration after leaving and coming back to the app
- add support for saving and restoring the application state
- add support for call holding and waiting
- add support for merging calls (conference calling)
- add support for emergency calling and launching from the greeter
- make it possible to adjust the call volume when in a call
- auto-formatting of phone numbers when dialing
- visual changes for tab bar
- audio routing UI
