USB Free or Unpartitioned auto detect and offer partitioning

When a new USB drive is connected to ubuntu there is no easy way without going to shell to partition the harddrive to use. If the drive has no partition or a free partition could it detect and offer an option to partition the drive.
There are always new USB drives coming out and being purchased and with an increase in ubuntu systems it makes sense to make it an easy option.
