Subject: initscripts: /etc/init.d/umountfs segfaults on shutdown

Package: initscripts
Version: 2.86-5
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

The script /etc/init.d/umountfs segfaults on shutdown. Due to this, the
swap and all other filesystems are not cleanly unmounted which may cause
severe data loss.

I could verify this behaviour on two different systems, both running the
ReiserFS filesystem and Debian unstable. On a third box that is running
the latest version of Debian Sarge and EXT3 it could not be reproduced,

The error message during shutdown is similar to this one:

Deactivating swap...umount: none busy - remounted read-only
Segmentation fault
done.
Unmounting local filesystems...umount: none busy - remounted read-only
Segmentation fault
done.
mount: / is busy

Bye
Alexander
