Okay, that's disappointing to learn.

Clearly. However, the problem is primarily for people that *don't* know
what they're doing. The non-technical John Q. Public types that just
want stuff to work, and are attempting to connect their computer to a
network that is only able to offer IPv6 service.

I don't understand what you mean by this. If Ubuntu cannot connect to an
IPv6 network, sure, that network is obviously "not very useful" to the
end user.

I fail to see which "other equipment" you're talking about, though?
Except if the end user has the possibility to reboot into Microsoft
Windows, or if he has sufficient technical skill to debug the problem
and change the correct advanced settings in the NM connection profile,
he will be left completely without a functioning network connection.
What "other equipment" will help out with this situation?
