Have met the same issue with a fresh utopic amd64 install: ext4, 'private' home folder chosen at installation and shared/non-encrypted ext4 /swap partition.
Results:
- /swap not mounted (was seen as 'commented' into fstab; wonder if ubiquity have to be blamed there ?)
- sudo ecryptsfs-setup-swap also fails: it force the desired /swap entry to be mommented into fstab, and then stop the process.
This appear to be seriously broken, and looks like no one care about the ecryptfs bugs, sadly. (Hopes i'm wrong about that !!!)
