Summary: we found a case, where vbetool breaks resuming the machine, whereas the VBERestore code in the xorg i810 driver manages to restore the inital text mode using the option "VBERestore" true.

I think it is too late for edgy to consider this workaround. I think vbetool should be fixed to work on an R50e.
