Ubiquity support Raspberry Pi Foundation kernel

Registered by Martin Wimpress 

The Raspberry Pi Foundation currently provides their kernel as a "blob". This include the boot loader, kernel and firmware. Ubiquity, or more precisely oem-config, fails hard during the first boot while trying to configure the kernel. Therefore, Ubiquity is hacked in the Ubuntu Pi Flavour Maker to avoid building initrd and other kernel related setup.

Ubiquity could be modified to handle a Raspberry Pi Foundation gracefully of Ubuntu Pi Flavour Maker could support the Raspberry Pi Kernel used by Snappy from 15.10 onward. However, using the Snappy kernel will require that the kernel is kept in sync with the Raspberry Pi Foundation firmware otherwise most of the hardware in the SoC can't be enabled.
