Basically we could have a script for configuring appliances that are being configured on systems with SSD drives, to make best use of these drives settings from best practice guides coud be applied in the form of a pre/post install script. Option would be presented in the install - something like "optimize for install on SSD drive".

These best practices could be scripted. Not sure about turning journaling off though.

Jeremy - I don't think turning journalling off on a server is a great idea. Also I think mounting the /var/log dir as temp is a bad plan too for a server (you would generally want the logs to survive a reboot). Otherwise a cool idea IMO.
