basic configuration should be available on console

The user shouldn't be forced into the command line for basic stuff like getting network configuration (e.g., what IP the appliance is binding to). This is the minimum the user needs to log into a machine's web interface and/or ssh to it.

An appliance's usage should be dead simple and self documenting. Right now it isn't. Non-installed mode should transfer you directly to this basic configuration interface WITHOUT entering a username/password combination.
