why hassle with another cloud provider, when an android user already has a google drive cloud of approx 10gb

-> simple reason: dropbox and google apis don't have a version controlling with client side conflict resolving. in fact - they don't do conflict resolving at all. if you want to edit a gdocs file you have to be online. offline support ist just for viewing.
We would have to implement a hack to do a real sync with offline support. and this problem is not that trivial (besides that it has to be a cross plattform implementation together with Tomboy and Macboy)
However we are thinking about it already!
