Existing addon implements checkout (by copying file on the client machine). Change the addon from implementing to having web server scripts implement checkout. Then change addon to simply poke web server script.
1. User clicks CheckOut button
2. Addon pokes web server script.
3. Web server script move a document file.
4. Stevedore server sees change and checks out the document.
