This would only be done in the Category View, because the normal view is to be in A-Z order. Inside the category view, in the "Most used apps", this would be disabled, because in this category, the apps are in order of usage. ~munchor
Last time I tried to push "Most used" category in Slingshot, Dan declined it and convinced me that the dock should be used for most used apps, so Slingshot doesn't need that category.
The point of sorting apps like that is assigning known locations to them (usually on the
first page, of course). Well, maybe I'm duplicating the dock again... ~shnatsel
we really must make it rearrangable! but and look at apple, they chose to make launchpad apps rearrangable too, so why we don't..
Isn't the reason Slingshot uses pages to allow the user to memorize where his apps are? I think this is great and very useful, but alphabetical ordering breaks this, as it inserts newly installed apps in the middle. I personally think new programs should be added at the end and icons should be rearrangeable, like on most smart-phones. ~julien-spautz
You can type to search for an app. I think Dan is right here. People can and will accidentally rearrange apps, making it a cluttered mess. ~Jacob
