The project is being created as an extension and replacement of the work by the now discontinued “Centre for Computer-aided Egyptological Research” created by Dirk van der Plas, with the following points in mind:

1. All elements of the project will be freely available Software will be an open source development creating native executables for Windows, Linux, and Mac based computers.

2. A comprehensive sign list using basic extensions to MdC will be formed.

3. The system will support Hieroglyphic, Hieratic and Coptic texts.

4. An editor allowing easy text processing and input will be created.

5. Standardised texts that allow for fast text parsing.

6. An integrated database and repository of texts for referencing.

7. Search and create usage statistics for words, clauses, phrases.

8. View chronological changes in language.
