Specification linked.
Douglas: Fran, a few questions:
1. In the Pupil information section of the specification, can you explain these fields?
Advisory group* (this is the main section)
Morning class* (these are then the two subject sections)
Afternoon class* (these are then the two subject sections)
FRAN: This is what I meant yesterday about them having multiple sections that students could be part of. Advisory group is basically the main section (stream in PEAS language), which is like a form / tutor group and would be used for attendance. The other two sections are like sets - so there is a morning group where they study english and other subjects, and then an afternoon group for other subjects. As mentioned on the section enrolment piece - students need to be able to be enroled in multiple sections, and these sections need to be linked to different subjects.
2. Is it possible to split:
Scholarship student yes/no. If yes:
* Rising Scholar
* Community Scholar
* Hardship Fund Recipient
into two fields:
- Scholarship student (checkbox)
- Scholarship type (dropdown)
FRAN: let's just keep one box but change the options in the drop down to:
"Scholarship student?"
• No
o Rising Scholar
o Community Scholar
o Hardship Fund Recipient
3. Is it possible to split "Main language spoken at home" into two fields:
- Main language spoken at home (dropdown)
- Other language spoken (text field)
FRAN: I think it should be two fields but other should be an option in the first drop down and then the second field should be a text box and say "If other, please specify"
4. About "Main contact point", it's kind of difficult to see which fields are for this person and which ones are for the student? Could you please reorganize that part?
FRAN: Ah yes, sorry. It should split after the address field for the student. I have revised the word document though and sent it back to you.
Also is it necessary to specify the "Main contact point" when creating the student or could it be a separate step? If we need to store a lot of data about the contact person maybe we should modify School
FRAN: Sorry, this should be on the contact form, not as a student demographic. I hope hte form is now clearer
All this data on this person makes me think we should customize SchoolTool's standard Contacts (not used so far) and handle it from there.
FRAN: yes that should all be handled in the contacts slider
Douglas: for selecting the values in the fields of item 1. we're going to use the current (active) school year in a dropdown. Are these three different streams?
The custom fields for contacts will be handled with a new feature similar to person or resource demographics fields.
Estimate: 10 hours
· National Primary School Examination scores (tweaked)
o Aggregate
o Mathematics
o English
o Quantitative reasoning
o Verbal reasoning
o General studies
To clarify – this is not a drop down, but 6 fields giving academic results:
· Primary exam – aggregate
· Primary exam – Mathematics
· Primary exam – English
· etc
Fran: I just noticed that the excel export/import document doesn’t have the new fields for contacts in it. Would you please add those fields to the excel and then I can reimport the remaining data on Monday? Thanks a lot!
