Rip

An indicator in the CD window that shows the success of the rip operation

Registered by Joe Paradiso

When a rip completes, there is currently a dialog box that appears indicating the success of the rip, but it can spontaneously go away, especially if you have other drives ripping simultaneously. There is otherwise nothing remaining in the disc's window after the rip that indicates how the rip went. This can be an issue - if the rip failed, tracks are just not generated, and this can go easily unnoticed unless you're watching the screen continually, which isn't possible if you're ripping while doing other things. A simple indicator that's drawn in the disc's window after the rip to show how the rip went - even green or red or a bit of text saying success or failure, or better yet some indication of what tracks were failed, would help enormously, and should (hopefully) be easy to implement. I know that one of my discs lost a track today because of this, only because I happened to be looking when it failed - the message went quickly away, and nothing in the log file said that a track failed either - only the successfully extracted tracks were listed. If I know that this occurred, I can then put the CD into a more reliable drive or run Max or even iTunes to extract that track as best as possible. A simple post-rip summary indicator in the disc window would fix this.
