Current status:
- Have a basic gnome-applet set up. It runs in windowed mode, but isn't working for me when I try to put it on the panel. It successfully opens uploader.py if it is not already running, and prints the status of whatever uploader is running (possible feature 4). -- Angus

Possible features:
1) Turning logging on/off with a click or menu
2) Editing preferences from a gui window
