A redshift port to the Android mobile platform.

Registered by Nicholas H. Kirk

Redshift is a good idea for a more pleasant usage of the pc during the night. In my opinion mobile phones need the redshift feature above all devices. From personal experience I can say that many times during the night I read a text message, look at the time and always get annoyed by the glare of the display. It could be an idea to port the app to Android using their API and extending the program using the light sensor and other things.

Whiteboard

Awesome idea for any mobile device:

Android: My quick review of the Android 2.2 API specs leads me to believe that redshift won't be possible as an app. The andriod system will need to be modified like SurfaceFlinger does: http://jsharkey.org/blog/2010/07/01/android-surfaceflinger-tricks-for-fun-and-profit/

CyanogenMod have a "Render effect" or "RenderFX" that changes the screen colour. (It also works well for OLED screens as it can turn off all but one colour to save power.) e.g.: http://www.ryanmerritt.com/2011/10/17/the-closest-thing-to-flux-f-lux-on-the-android-phone-i-can-find/

Other platforms: Please add info here.
