The way I see it, we should have the following entity kinds:
* Style - background color, gradient or texture; image alignment; image border width and color (can be transparent); text location, alignment, font and size.
* Layout - image size; number of image rows and columns per page; number of pages (1 or 2); page size. For 2 page spreads you can have 2 positions (horizontal & vertical).
* Template - a style + a layout. It can be previewed with image stubs.
* Album Design - a template with some content.
The first three can be stored in user's library (can be chosen from menu and edited) or in current album design. A spotlighted image is the one that occupies full page or spread instead of normal image size for current layout.
