PPL

Portrait info should be synced with Flickr based on machine tags

Registered by Christopher Adams

One of the problems with finding portraits from Flickr based on matching the photo title to a contact name is the high probability of either missing or misidentifying portraits.

There should be an unambiguous way for PPL to identify photos as portraits.

The easiest way is through machine tags. A proposal for a machine tag is "dc:subject=firstnamelastname" where dc denotes the Dublic Core namespace and subject eqauates to "The topic of the resource."

As a first step, Owners could add the appropriate machine tag to portraits that PPL cannot identify from the title alone. PPL can then be taught to read these machine tags.

Later, PPL can become the very software that owners can use to search photos and write machine tags to.

The ideal out of all of this that Flickr remains the repository for all of the data about the photo, including who is in it.
