As many of the graphcs we work on Linux are vector based and are in a free SVG format file, I think, it should have SVG read support.

Try to find which command line tools with minimal dependencies and also available on Window and Mac we can use. If you find that out you'll have higher chance. We need a tool which convert svg->bitmap Probably imagemagick can do it, but a smaller tool would be nice.

have you tried with libsvg? http://librsvg.sourceforge.net/
on debian, it works like a charm with libsvg-bin, but it would be better if it use the library --dael99
