batch file rename action

Registered by royden on 2007-06-20

Phatch action to batch rename image files, either as a single action or part of an action chain. Minimal function would be to insert set or fixed text into an existing filename sequence at a chosen point: eg img01.jpg - > img0001_small.jpg; img02.jpg -> img02_small.jpg etc. More advanced functionality could be to insert a date (dmy, my or y), text derived from the parent directory name and a variable increment counter with an option for setting the start of the number sequence. Gnome-Commander (in Ubuntu/Deb repos) has a powerful rename tool as an example, including inserting items from the exif tags of images.

4. Better file rename
User must have freedom to rename his files. I often use batch for arange files numericly (001.png, 002.png, 003.png ...). This is essential tool in animation. I must find ease way for this job. Gthumb have great solution for this: # (enumerator), %f(original filename), %d(image date), %s (image size), %e(original extension).
Enumerator should have option for starting from. Example, photo### starting from 5:
photo005
photo006
photo007
...
