Better crash reporting in Xtrabackup

Like the bug reported here https:/
it would also be better if xtrabackup support backtraces for better debugging. (currently it is hard to discover the cause of any crash during prepare etc.)
I tried like using --ibbackup="gdb --batch -ex 'run' -ex 'bt' -ex 'quit' --args xtrabackup_55" but this didn't work, something similar will also do: innobackupex --gdb or so.
Note: lp:1182841 may also be merged into this BP if required/suitable.
