I think this is the case where writing it to the table will be extremely complicated (logically) because of recursion as you want to store in the table about pages which are modified, but this in return causes other page modification. I also believe with RAID and Flash extra fsync will be very little overhead (note this is NOT extra overhead per transaction commit but per flush of batch of the pages)
