Download/Copy status

Files could rely on an extended attributes to show the progress of a copy or a download (i.e. a progress bar below, next, or over the file). Applications (Files, Midori, Geary) would set, update and clear this attribute.

Max OS X and iOS use the "com.apple.progress.fractionCompleted" attribute, and it's already set by browsers like Chrome.

But of course, there's no reason to use this one. Freedesktop has a proposed attribute for the download origin (user.xdg.origin.url) but nothing for the progress: http://freedesktop.org/wiki/CommonExtendedAttributes/
