Social Vulnerability and Integrate Risk calculators
Terminology
Zone:
A [normally (relatively) small] arbitrary geographical region (represented as a polygon) which defines a study region. It is typical for these regions to be defined on the provincial/
Socio-Economic Variables:
Attributes associated with a Zone which characterize an area. Attributes can include information about population, infrastructure, healthcare resources, environment, and education, just to name a few. In all, there roughly a few dozens of different parameters which fall into these categories.
These variables are taken into account when a Social Vulnerability Map is computed.
Loss Map:
A risk calculation output from the oq-engine. Comprised of a collection of geographical points with one or more loss values for a given asset.

Preparing Input Models
Input models are expected to be a GeoJSON FeatureCollection, defining zone polygons with their associated SE Variables. We may support shapefiles as well in the future (since GIS tools such as QGIS can convert easily between GeoJSON<->shp, and since shapefiles are the typical format for many common geospatial modeling tasks), but for the first iteration we plan to only support GeoJSON.
