Multi-region Compute

Registered by Jesse Pretorius

OpenStack can be deployed in geographically dispersed data centres in such a way that each data centre's cluster can be defined as a region. This allows an end-user to query the service catalogue and see each endpoint, then to connect to the endpoint and build out an infrastructure in that region. This facilitates end-users being able to build our geographically dispersed infrastructure, enabling high availability and fault tolerance.

    Spec for multiregion ansible deployment

With the network implementation of the multi-region-swift BP it seems like we could leverage some of that to implement a better multi region compute environment.

Agreed, in order for it to be done, all we needed was https://review.openstack.org/200054 and a way to do the inter-region networking. The last step was galera wsrep options for the geo-cluster, which I have notes on but couldn't finish testing without the appropriate networking bits. [odyssey4me 20 Jul 2015]
