Implement gps track (gpx) following in 3d animated maps

The 3d animated maps feature is great.
Would be greater if one could drop a gpx file and have a rendering of the trip done.
Maybe either a) on ground, b) in the air if gpx contains altitude, c) simulation of altitude if gpx doesn't contain it.
