Partial production reception

Registered by Phuong

When we launch a production of 10.000 units that will last several days, we would like to make products reception each day. Because final products coming out from the production, they get a lot number and then go to stock progressively. The idea is to have a button on the production order called "Partial reception" where we can specify how many products are done and give them a lot number. After validating, the production order will be splitted in 2, one prod order will be in 'Done' state with the quantity we specified before, and one prod order in 'In production' state with the remaining quantity to product.

Whiteboard

GG: In Production Order you have tab Finished goods. When production order is in status "In production" (after Production start) you can enter into Finished goods line and press "Split in production lots". After splitting you can enter in one of separate line and press "Make parcel" which results in supplying Finished products location of this lot.

I think this functionality is better than the one you proposed, because you still have the same production order.

PL: Hello,
Thanks for your answer. It's ok for me to keep all information in one unique production order, but I think there're 2 problems with this solution:
- If I split the finished products quantity in lots, and enter the quantity that was going out from the production, the system will create a number of lines that contains the same quantity (ex: if I launch a production of 150 units, I would like to encode a first quantity of 20 pieces done for today. So if I split, Open ERP will create 7 lines of 20 units, and 1 line of 10 units). That's not what we need. We need to encode that today, we have received 20 units done, and we don't know how many units will be done tomorrow, maybe 22 or 19 units.
- The second problem is for the lot number. After splitting, the system gives all lots number in advance for every lines. What we need is to generate a lot number progressively when products coming out from the production chain.

Maybe we can have a button on the finished products line that can allow us to precise how many products we want to receive, with a choice for lot number, and then we validate and make parcel? In this way, it will create a first line 'Done' with the quantity we entered, and create a new line with the remaining quantity in 'Available' state...

GG: I agree. So it should work like "Split move line in two" in Picking lists. I can say even further: I seem "Split in production lots" is not usable at all. You provided the reasons. I think Tiny should consider to drop "Split in production lots" as unreal and deploy "Split move line in two" with some more sophisticated lot (production or tracking) assignment instead.
However you can adopt current functionality: In "Splitting in production lots" enter Quantity per lot number higher than half of whole production. It splits current amount to two lines. Then adjust the amount in first line to real today production and Make parcel. Next day repeat the process in next line. And so on. Check if lot numbering will work fine for you this way. So everyday you have one line to of residual production which can be divided. At last lot try to use all lines. Otherwise you have to enter Quantity 0 to unused line because system doesn't allow you to cancel it. When you leave any line with quantity <>0 in status "Available" system convert it do "Done" after "Production done" what could be unwanted. Have fun.
