Most of the time the responsible of a CRM case depends on the section, the categorie and the stage.
Having defaults values applicable within catégorie / sections and stages values would be usefull.

In "leads" section case, for categorie "website" and stage "new", the responsible will be "sales employee".
In "opportunities" case, in "need analysis" stage and "new buisness" section, the respible will be "sales manager".
