Instrumentation Proposal
To effectively operate OpenStack at larger scale, we’d like deeper instrumentation and timing of key activities *within* processing daemons at external I/O points and key bits of the processing flow. This will help in monitoring system performance and triaging issues at a deeper level. The desire is to add a generalized mechanism for measuring processing and I/O events and other key metrics inside daemons.

Looks like this should be done externally or in openstack-common --Vish
Hi
I (and the rest of ceilometer guys) want to make a common instrumentation layer/library.
I have started on a dev sandpit/poc here: https:/
With code taken from tach and ceilometer.
It would be good to work together.

Hi Angus, Doug, Sandy,
We definitely want to work with you guys and try to find the common ground and approach that works for all of us. We are looking forward to collaborating with you. The three of us (jeff, tim, josh) from yahoo will be participating.
