Hyper-V VHDX support
Registered by
Alessandro Pilotti
Hyper-V uses the VHD and VHDX formats for virtual disks.
VHDX has been introduced with Windows Server 2012, providing better performance and the ability to resize differential disks (aka CoW in the driver's implementation). VHDX disks are not supported on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2.
The Nova Hyper-V driver currently supports the VHD format only. The aim of this blueprint in to provide support for VHDX as well.
Note: VHDX support in Hyper-V requires the WMI root \virtualization\v2 namespace.
