customization-of-windows-based-guest-in-hyper-v-and-esx

Registered by kshitij.nipun.shahzad

This is a proposal to expose a Nova API in openstack which will do customization of a windows-based Virtual machine for hyper-v and Esx. The parameters which can be customized may be as follows,
1.Setting Computer Name
2.Setting Administrator Password
3.Setting Domain Password
4.Setting Autologon
5.Setting Time Zone
6.Setting Organization Name
7.Setting to add Virtual machine to a Domain or workgroup
8.Setting number of Auto Users
9.Setting MachineObjectOU
10.Setting IP Address(Static or DHCP)
This eases the work of an user to do all setting at once rather than logging into operating system and setting each properties serially.

This can be done via Cloudbase-Init, which is the cloud-init for Windows, and by passing some user-data script to the instance on boot. There is no need to expose this via nova-api. claudiub - 2016-09-20
