Kind of impossible to not use clutter for this I think. Cairo is really only two dimensional while Clutter is made for nice 3D animations. But about coverflow as a whole its really pointless imo and doesn't enhance music browsing in any way to be honest.

I believe with Noise's architecture, this could be implemented as a plugin if someone was interested in developing it. We just won't do it officially due to a few reasons (possible patents, effort involved, lack of enhancing music browsing, etc.). ~cassidyjames
