Treat Genres More Like Tags

The traditional idea of genres is stupid and outdated. Instead, we should treat genres more like tags. This way a song could be tagged electronic, dance, dubstep, etc. When browsing for certain genres, we should allow easily selecting multiple genres. The whole thing should use a paradigm like tags, but it can still technically use genres on a technical level (and so users don't have to manually tag everything).

I'm definitely +1 on rethinking genres. Especially when a lot of songs have so many different elements they're hard to classify. I think we're really have to think about a way to do this that doesn't give users tons of shit-work to do though --DanRabbit
I agree (and thank you for your job) --jbettex
