Tim Spriggs is working on this.
Request submitted to freenode on 2007-07-16.
Request acknowledged and waiting for approval 2007-07-23.
nick: inaddy currently owns #nexenta, a message has been sent through memoserv to contact Tim Spriggs via email on 2007-08-07.
inaddy has not been online for more than 60 days and the #nexenta channel is not used by anyone except people that seem to be interested in Nexenta OS. reflect (IRC nick) contacted me and did a little research that suggests that the appropriate measures are to ask for a redirect so when you join #nexenta, you actually join ##nexenta. Over a period of time (undefined length) we may be able to gain ownership of #nexenta. Currently reflect/rootard are OPs of ##nexenta and reflect is looking to enable the redirect. - 2007-09-17
A freenode op (nalioth) has informed me that "you no longer have to worry about the guy coming back from vacation and changing the forwards and such" so we can officially use #nexenta. The forward is in place to ##nexenta and we have two current (valid) ops AFAIK for ##nexenta. As I understand it, #nexenta can not be released for a while yet but the request I submitted on 7/16 should be upheld once it is available.
Thanks to all who helped push this further.
