btw, an api extension for basic "linux device" style stats already exists: quantum/extensions/portstats.py

Not sure if that's what you're aiming for or not.

The purpose was to enable the agents to return the logical network statistics to the plugin, which in turn can enable the user to access them.
This may relay on the blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/quantum/+spec/scalable-agent-comms .
